Web Accessibility Audits & WCAG 2.2 Remediation

PixoBots audits websites and web applications against WCAG 2.2 Level AA, then our dedicated developers fix what we find - in your code, your components and your design system. AI tools speed up the scan triage and the drafting of ARIA, label and contrast fixes; every fix is still verified by hand with keyboard and screen-reader testing, so the result is a product people with disabilities can actually use, not just a cleaner scan report.

What we deliver

Audit

We test a representative sample of templates and key user journeys - sign-up, search, checkout - against WCAG 2.2 AA, using automated tools and manual assistive-technology passes.

Prioritise

Every issue is logged with the success criterion, affected pages, user impact and a recommended fix, ranked so blockers on critical journeys come first.

Remediate

Our developers fix issues at the source - usually shared components - so one change repairs every page that uses them. AI tools draft the repetitive markup and ARIA fixes; the developer reviews each one and re-tests it with assistive technology.

Keep it accessible

Automated checks in the build pipeline, accessibility acceptance criteria for new work and periodic re-testing stop regressions creeping back.

Why automated scanners are not enough

Automated tools are good at finding missing alt attributes, low contrast and unlabeled fields, but they catch only part of real accessibility problems. They cannot tell whether alt text is meaningful, whether focus order makes sense, whether a custom dropdown announces its state to a screen reader, or whether a modal traps keyboard users.

That is why our audits pair scanning with manual testing: keyboard-only navigation, the labels, roles and focus order that screen readers rely on, zoom and reflow at 400 percent, and reduced-motion settings. We report what we have actually verified, rather than claiming a conformance level we have not tested to.

The European Accessibility Act and the ADA

The European Accessibility Act applies from 28 June 2025 to in-scope products and services sold in the EU, including e-commerce, banking services, e-books and passenger transport services. Its harmonised standard is EN 301 549, whose web requirements map to WCAG Level AA, so a WCAG 2.2 AA audit is a practical basis for working towards it. Microenterprises providing services are exempt.

In the United States, the ADA has been applied to websites in a large number of lawsuits, and the Department of Justice's 2024 rule adopts WCAG 2.1 AA for state and local government websites. WCAG 2.2 AA includes all of WCAG 2.1 AA, so meeting 2.2 covers both. We provide technical audits and fixes, not legal advice - your counsel should confirm your obligations.

Accessibility built into design and code

Retrofitting is the most expensive way to become accessible. On new work our UI/UX designers check contrast, target sizes and focus states in Figma, and our developers build semantic, keyboard-operable components once in the design system, so every screen inherits the fix.

Frequently asked questions

What is a WCAG 2.2 AA accessibility audit? expand_more
A WCAG 2.2 AA audit tests your website or app against the Level A and AA success criteria of the W3C's Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.2. You receive a list of issues, each tied to a criterion, the pages affected, the impact on users and a recommended fix.
Does the European Accessibility Act apply to my website? expand_more
It applies if you sell in-scope products or services to consumers in the EU - such as e-commerce, banking, e-books or passenger transport - and you are not a microenterprise providing services. It has applied since 28 June 2025. Your legal advisers should confirm scope; we handle the technical audit and fixes.
Can an accessibility overlay make our site compliant? expand_more
No - overlay widgets do not fix the underlying code, and many disabled users find they get in the way. Durable accessibility comes from fixing markup, components and content at the source, which is what we do.
How long does accessibility remediation take? expand_more
A focused marketing site can often be audited and fixed in a few weeks; a large web application takes longer and is usually remediated in priority order, starting with critical user journeys. Fixing shared components first shortens the work considerably.
Do you test beyond automated scans? expand_more
Yes. Automated scans miss many serious issues, so we also test keyboard-only use and high zoom levels, and review the labels, roles and focus order that screen readers rely on.
