android Google Play Ready

Android Development

Android app development in Kotlin and Jetpack Compose by dedicated developers who work with AI tools. AI speeds up Compose screen scaffolding from your designs, test generation and the yearly target-API upgrades, and your developer reviews every change - so your app reaches Google Play sooner, polished to the pixel.

Built for Google Play and Real Devices

Android runs on thousands of device models with different screen sizes, chipsets and OS versions, so we agree a minimum supported Android version early, based on your audience and the APIs you need, and test on a matrix of real and emulated devices covering small phones, large phones, foldables and tablets. Google Play also requires new apps and updates to target a recent API level, so we plan for the yearly platform update rather than treating it as a surprise.

Publishing is part of the build, not an afterthought. We set up Play Console, app signing, Android App Bundles, internal and closed testing tracks, data safety declarations and staged rollouts, then wire in crash reporting and performance monitoring so issues show up in dashboards before they show up in reviews. After launch we can keep the app current with library updates, new Android releases and feature work, or hand everything over to your own team with full documentation.

Releasing Updates Safely

Each release moves through the Play tracks in order: an internal track for your team within minutes of a build, a closed track for invited testers, an optional open track for a public beta, and then production. In production we release to a small share of users first and widen the rollout only while Android vitals - crash rate, ANRs (app not responding), startup time and excessive battery use - stay healthy. If a release misbehaves, the rollout is halted before most users ever receive it, and a fix follows on the same path.

Server-side feature flags let new features ship switched off and be enabled separately from the binary, and Play in-app updates prompt users on old versions to upgrade when an API change requires it.

Architecture That Lasts Years of Updates

Most Android apps live for years, and the code decides how expensive each later change is. We split larger apps into feature and core modules so builds stay fast and teams can work in parallel, keep a single source of truth in a local Room database for offline-first screens, and keep dependency versions in one Gradle version catalog so library upgrades are a reviewed, single change. Baseline profiles improve startup and scrolling on real devices.

Tests sit at every layer: unit tests for view models and business rules, Compose UI tests for key screens and a short end-to-end suite run in CI on each pull request, so the yearly target-API upgrade is a routine task rather than a rewrite.

help_outline FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How much does it cost to build an Android app? expand_more
The cost of an Android app depends on scope rather than a fixed price. The main drivers are the number of screens and user flows, backend and API work, integrations such as payments and maps, offline support, design complexity and testing depth. PixoBots quotes transparent, milestone-based pricing after a short discovery call.
How long does Android app development take? expand_more
A focused Android app typically takes around three to six months from discovery to Play Store release, while a simple MVP can be quicker. Timelines depend on feature scope, backend readiness, third-party integrations, design approvals and Google Play review, which we factor into the plan from the start.
Should we build native Android with Kotlin or use a cross-platform framework? expand_more
Choose native Kotlin with Jetpack Compose when you need the best performance, deep hardware access or Android-specific features. Choose a cross-platform framework such as Flutter or React Native when you need iOS and Android from one codebase on a tighter budget. We recommend an approach after reviewing your features and roadmap.
Can you publish our app on Google Play? expand_more
Yes. We handle the full release process, including Play Console setup, app signing, Android App Bundles, store listing assets, data safety declarations, testing tracks and staged rollouts. The app is published under your own developer account, so you keep full control of the listing, the users and the revenue.
Do you maintain and update Android apps after launch? expand_more
Yes. Ongoing maintenance covers bug fixes, crash monitoring, library and security updates, support for new Android versions, and the target API level updates that Google Play requires each year. We can also add new features in planned releases. You own the code and IP, so you can move maintenance in-house at any time.
Which Android versions and devices will our app support? expand_more
We set the minimum supported Android version from your audience data and the platform features the app needs, since supporting very old versions adds testing effort and workarounds. Testing then covers a matrix of real and emulated devices - small and large phones, foldables, tablets and different manufacturer skins - weighted toward the devices your users actually own.
